Ministerial & Support Team
Senior Pastor, Minister of Evangelism
Our pastor came to Humboldt over 12 years ago to not only shepherd the people of First Baptist but to reach beyond the walls of the church into the region of West Tennessee with the Gospel. He, his wife Sheila, boys Ryan and Joey, came to invest their lives into the place of his childhood! They would later welcome a daughter, Lily, from Guatemala into their family and ours. Greg is leading the church to be intentionally regional in its approach to ministry. His heart is to see the church establish small discipleship groups in strategic outposts in a three county area. It is his vision to equip and inspire every member to be on mission in the place where they have been planted. He sees the preaching ministry as his opportunity to deliver a relevant word from God when all of these groups come together for one significant worship encounter. His dream for every follower of Christ is to reproduce his or her faith in the heart of another!
Pastor, Minister of Evangelism
Minister of Missions, Discipleship & Administration
In 2004, God led Steve and his wife, Dottie, to join God's work at FBC. They found a family of faith, with the same heartbeat, who stood on a 150-year legacy of reaching the nations and a desire to do whatever it takes to reach the generations at hand. Steve sees himself as a catalyst finding joy in encouraging, equipping, enabling, and empowering others to be all they can be in Christ. Steve loves promoting FBC’s Ministry Plan, teaching God’s word, and expanding the use of technology to advance God’s work. You will find Steve and Dottie hanging out with college students, taking a mission team around the world or across the street, and sitting on their living room couch encouraging and discussing spiritual truth and life with others. Steve describes his ministry as a ripple effect as he invests in the lives of others who invest in the lives of others for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Minister of Administration, Discipleship, and Missions
Minister of Worship & Music
Growing up less than twenty miles from Humboldt and being friends with five former FBC Minister’s of Music, Kevin was very familiar with the life and ministry of First Baptist Church and its music and missions focus. In 1999, Kevin, his wife (Cheryl), and children (Drew and Megan) felt a keen sense of God leading them to FBC. Kevin expresses his heart desire through the words of Psalm 150:6, "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord”. He wants each person who enters FBC to have a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and experience the joy of expressing praises to Him in worship that points people to Christ. Kevin wants everything he does to bring honor to the Lord. This is, also, his prayer for each of our musical groups, instrumentalists, soloists, etc. "He must increase, but I (we) must decrease." John 3:30. Kevin stands amazed that God allows him to serve with such a wonderful church. In his words, “We are a multigenerational congregation and I have the freedom to sing all styles of music, as I feel God's leading. How cool is that?”
